When I first started working with educational software, I felt I had to go deeper into the study of technology applied to teaching languages. The natural way was to go back to learning theories and draw from those as well as from language learning theories to come up with some answers to the many questions that learning always poses.
After much reading and pondering I concluded that the main concerns I had at that time could be translated into eight simple questions. The answer to those questions should make a teacher confident as to the effectiveness of the software to be used.
Educational technology and web resources have changed a lot since those questions were first considered. Have students' needs changed as well? Where is further investigation on language learning technology needed today?
Click Abstract to read more about my study, and click analyzing software to read the questions I devised as a tool to check the effectiveness of software in language learning.
Cheers!
